Commitment On 100% Renewable Energy And Carbon Neutrality By 2040

As a leading supplier with best-in-class solutions for information, electronics and consumer products, Primax joins (April 29, 2022) RE100 with aims of using 100% renewable energy for its global operations by 2040. In addition, Primax has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, a decade earlier than called for in the Paris Climate Agreement, and is fully committed to emissions reduction consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

For years, Primax has been eco-conscious and an active participant of environmental affairs, as various measures have been implemented in its business operations to promote sustainability. In efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, Primax has laid out stringent targets and deadlines for production and operations, as all seven manufacturing sites are certified by ISO14001 for environment management, ISO5001 for energy management, ISO14046 for water footprint and ISO14064-1 for greenhouse gas emissions and removal.

Acknowledging that climate change is no longer a far-off issue and requires immediate response, in 2020, Primax adopted the SBTi to define and promote best practices in emissions reductions and net-zero targets in line with climate science. Internally, a risk management committee has been set up to identify, assess and disclose climate-related risks in accordance with the TCFD framework. In February 2022, under the TCFD framework with third party verifications carried out by SGS Taiwan, Primax has been awarded the Pioneer Award, which is a recognition of Primax’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, transparency, governance and financial disclosure.

Raymond Liang, Chairman of Primax, said: “Climate change is the defining crisis of our time, and we must accelerate planning and targets needed to address it. Joining RE100 is a milestone and declaration of Primax’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality. The next phase would involve an alignment with SDGs to formulate goals, develop eco-designs and green manufacturing, and cooperate with supply chains to collectively tackle the climate change issues.”

Sam Kimmins, Head of RE100 at Climate Group said: “We are delighted that Primax has joined RE100, the global initiative led by the Climate Group in partnership with CDP. By committing to 100% renewable electricity by 2040, Primax is taking an important step forward on improving its sustainability and joins over 350 of the world’s leading companies that are committed to drive market change. We encourage others to follow suit.”
